Financial Assistance
Graduate Assistantships are available at stipends which range from approximately $15,000 to $17,000 for the academic year, with waiver of tuition. Duties may involve tutoring, grading, teaching a class, or assisting a professor. Assistantships are renewable.
Graduate students interested in participating in an NSF-funded GK-12 project, the SUPER-M, are encouraged to apply for a Fellowship. Each Fellow will receive a stipend of $30,000 supplemented by a cost-of-education allowance for tuition, health insurance, and fees not to exceed $10,500. Initial appointment is for one year but renewable for a second year. Duties include but are not limited to designing classroom activities related to Fellow's research interests, collaborating with a mathematics classroom teacher, visiting K-12 mathematics classes, interacting with K-12 students, and conducting mathematics sessions at teacher workshops.

Faculty
The Department has an extremely able faculty of about thirty-five members. Their research interests span the entire range of modern mathematics research (research interests) and there are strong groups in all the major fields.
The student/faculty ratio is favorable and this allows for a great deal of individual attention.
