To enroll in the courses below you must pass the
Assessment Exam
and obtain department approval.

Exceptions:
You do not need to take the math assessment exam (but you still need to obtain departmental approval) if you:
- Took the test no more than one year ago
- Have appropriate transfer credits
- Received an acceptable score on the Calculus Advanced Placement Exam (See details)
- You completed Math 135 at a UH Community College or Math 104F at UH Hilo with a C- or better
- All testing is held in the Physical Science 208
- Bring your U.H. Student I.D. and a pencil.

Reservations are required.
When space is available, walk-ins are allowed.

should not make a reservation. They will take their
assessment exam in class on Tuesday, May 27.

- Take the first practice exam. Note the problems you missed.
- Review similar problems covered in your high school algebra or geometry.
- Read "Cliff's Notes: Math Review for Standardized Tests" in Hamilton Library, the Bookstore, and Amazon.com
- Then, try the second practice exam. Continue until you can achieve the required score within the 45 minute time limit.
What to do if you fail
If you don't pass the Assessment Exam during the assigned exam periods, you may try again next semester. If you need a course to review and prepare, you may want to take Math 135 which is offered at UHM and the Community Colleges.
