  Read 2.3 and 2.4, which we covered in class today.
  Briefly read 2.11 which discusses the method of proof
      of Theorem 2.4.1.  We will not cover this material
      in class, although the very beginning of 2.11 concerning
      the integral equation is relevant in the context of
      Example 2 on page 45.
