  Today we covered 2.8.  If you haven't read it, do so.
  Next week we will finish Chapter 2 with 2.9, and a
    very brief discussion of the uniqueness part of
    Theorem 2.2.1 in 2.11.  To meet this very specific
    goal read
      1) page 99, theorem down to paragraph "One method of..."
      2) page 102, beginning with the paragraph "Finally, to deal..."
               to the end of the example
      3) page 105, beginning with "4.", including problems 15 and 19.


Problems:
  Section 2.8: 1,2,10,19,21,26

Announcements:
  Class Monday is cancelled for Martin Luther King Day, and we will
    have x-hour on Thursday to make up for the missed time.
  Look for an email concerning the new section of Math 23 over
    the weekend.  If you don't hear anything, you should report
    to 105 Bradley as usual on Wednesday.
