Course Syllabus

Math 241 is the first semester calculus course; the prerequisite is Math 140 or similar. We will discuss the fundamental notions of differential calculus of a single variable, including limits, derivatives and integrals (although techniques of integration will be studied much more thoroughly in Math 242). This means that we will be covering Chapters 1 to 5 and the beginning of Chapter 6 of the textbook; we will cover these chapters in order.

On Tuesday, 1/13 we covered Sections 0.5 and 1.1 in class.
For Thursday, 1/15 your assignment is to
- Do problems 1,5,9,11,23 from Section 1.1,
- Read Sections 1.1 & 1.2, which will be covered on Thursday, 1/15.
There is a quiz on Thursday, 1/22 which covers Sections 1.1 to 1.3.
