Exams:

The exams in Math 222 are not "common", meaning that different sections will have different exams.

There will be four "hour examinations" and a final examination. Each hour exam will be worth 100 points. Your lowest hour exam will be dropped, atlhough there is a bonus of ten points for taking all four exams. The final exam is worth 200 points.

The hour exams are given during the regular class period, and have already been scheduled. There will be no makeup exams unless you notify your instructor of a conflict in writing at least 24 hours before the exam. You may notify me in person, via email or phone.

The final exam is a two hour comprehensive exam and has been scheduled by the Registrar.

Exam 1 Tuesday, ??? in class
Exam 2 Tuesday, ??? in class
Exam 3 Tuesday, ??? in class
Exam 4 Thursday, ??? in class
Final Exam Tuesday, May 2 1:00-3:00 pm, ET 302

During the exams you may use a single study card, a 4 x 6 inch index card with formulas, graphs, etc of your choice written on it. You may also use a scientific calculator; you may not use a graphing calculator.

Quizzes & Homework:

There will be twelve quizzes throughout the course of the semester, each worth ten points. Check the syllabus for the dates of the quizzes. Your two lowest quiz scores will be dropped. There will be no makeup quizzes under any circumstances. The dropped quizzes are intended for illness and other serious obligations; use them wisely. You will be permitted to use a scientific calculator and one study card during the quizzes.

Homework will be assigned daily. Although it will not be collected the problems on the quizzes will be taken directly from the homework, and there is a direct correlation between not doing the homework regularly and receiving a poor grade in the course. It is crucial that you stay current with the homework.

Grades:

The course grade will be based upon the scores on the exams and quizzes as follows:

Quizzes (best ten) 100 points (10 points each) ~17%
Hour Exams (best three) 300 points (100 points each) 50% (~17% each)
Final Exam 200 points ~33%
Total Points 600 points 100%
