Text
: Real Analysis, by Royden. The plan is to cover chapters 1-13 roughly in order over the two semesters and then move on to other topics.
Other Texts: Mathematical Analysis, by T. Apostol. Introduction to Analysis by M. Rosenlicht. Real Analysis by W. Rudin. Measure Theory by P. Halmos. Lebesgue Integration on Euclidean Spaces by F. Jones. Real Analysis by Stein and Shakarchi.
Lecture: MWF 1:30-2:20am in Keller 413.
Homework: Practice makes perfect. We'll have homework every week due on monday (except around holidays). I'll select a few problems and grade them.
Exams: We will have a midterm and final exam. The purpose of the exams, like the course as a whole, is to help you prepare for the analysis prelim.
Advice: Get another real analysis book from the library or elsewhere. When you want a different perspective, read about the same topic in the other book or ask someone.
