Lunar Lander

Try to control the lunar lander to arrive safely on the moon within ten minutes. It is dropped from a space ship and has to fire its thrusters to land on the moon (reach a height of zero) without crashing (touch down with a low velocity). You can adjust the thruster firing sequence by dragging the sliders below the graph. When you think you have a good thruster firing sequence, click the Launch button to see if it works. If you want to try again, reset the spacecraft and tweak your thruster controls.

The spacecraft's motion is determined by its velocity. Its velocity is influenced by two accelerations: thrusters and gravity. The thrusters are controlled by the sequence you input. The pull of gravity depends on the mass of the vehicle: as you fire the thrusters, fuel is consumed and the mass of the vehicle decreases, so gravity has a smaller pull. The fuel gauge is shown on the side of the vehicle.
