Reading
In this class we use the book
  • J. Hass, M. Weir, G. Thomas University Calculus, alternate edition Pearson-Addison-Wesley
We cover the material from Chapters 7,8,9,16, and 17 from the book. Printed edition contains only Chapters 7,8, and 9 out of this list. Follow the link for Chapters 16 and 17
The book is really unavoidable, and cannot be replaced with another calculus textbook!
    Course Objective
To learn basic concepts, techniques and applications of integration, series, and differential equations.
    Prerequisites
A grade of C or higher in Math 241 or 251A or a grade of B or higher in Math 215
    Computer Lab
The lab holds at PS 208 on Monday (242-4) and Wednesday (242-5) at 12:30 to 1:20. The lab is run by De Meo
    Grading Policy
The course contains a combination of concepts, ideas and techniques. To understand the material means to be able to apply it in solving problems. At the end of the day, your grade will reflect your ability to solve specific calculus problems. More specifically, the following rules are to be taken.

  • Final exam will take place on Wednesday, May 11, from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm at Keller, 303 and will count for 40% of the final grade. The exam is cumulative (it covers all the material). There will be no make-ups for the final.

  • Mid-term test, which covers the material covered during the first 8 weeks and counts for 30% of the final grade.

  • Quizzes will be given almost weekly, and the average grade for the quizzes counts for 30% of the final grade.

The following are not part of the grading scheme:
