Quizzes will be given approximately bi-weekly, and the average grade for the quizzes counts for 30% of the final grade.
A quiz typically consists of four problems taken from the homework.
The following are not part of the grading scheme:
- Attendance
However, missing the classes one misses at least the quizzes which are a part of the grade.
- Homework
The homework will be given every class, and the problems proposed for quizzes are taken
from the homework.

Homework, Class and Quizzes Structure
- Homework is assigned every class. It consists of reading theory and solving problems.
Both assignments are from the book.
- In Class I briefly recall the theory which is assumed to be already read by students;
most difficult concepts are explained in details; most important ideas are emphasized. After that
I explain on the blackboard as many problems in the connection with the material under the consideration
as time allows. The rest of the problems and a new material
to read are assigned as the next homework.
- Quizzes contain four problems; these are problems taken from the homework.
