Math 252a Exam 2 Spring 2009
Ross's Lecture
Exam will be Wednesday, March 13, in KELLER 414
- The exam covers 8.1-8.6 and 8.9
- The exam will mainly consist of a number of integrals which you will be expected to integrate. There will generally be no instructions as to which technique to use - you will have to figure that out yourself.
- You can also expect do need to do one or more partial fractions decompositions; this might or might not appear in an integral.
- There will be an improper integral. It might not be obviously improper, you might have to recognize it as such.
- There might be a question about the motivation behind some of the techniques; for example: Which technique of differentiation gives rise to integration by parts? What does the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra have to do with integration?
- In adition to the homework problems, the following (from the Chapter 8 review) . For example:
- p519/1-7, 9-59, 67-8, 75,82-3,85
- You will not be allowed to use a calculator, except the one I provide. You will be allowed to use a crib sheet consisting of one side of one 8x11 sheet of paper with whatever you care to put on it, as well as a table of integrals which I will provide.
- I will also provide a table of integrals - This one.
