Math 252a Exam 3 Spring 2009
Exam will be Friday, April 24, in KELLER 414
- The exam covers: 9.3,9.4 (20%) 10.1-10.5 (80%)
- The exam will mainly consist of a number of sequences and series which you will test for convergence. There will generally be no instructions as to which test to use - you will have to figure that out yourself.
- You can also expect to compute one or two series exactly (for example, a geometric or telescoping series).
- You can expect at least one slightly theoretical problem, either about sequences or about series. and one problem estimating an eror from estmating a series from a finite sum. These might be the same problem.
- In adition to the homework problems, the following (from the Chapter 10 review) might be useful to try:
- p646-7/1-16, 17, 20, 23, 24, 25-37, 39, 41, 43, 44, 45
- For the series above that have negative terms, don't forget to check for absolute convergence as well as conditional convergence.
- If you are prepared for the exam, none of problems 25- 37 should take you more than 2-3 minutes; these are very easy.
- You will not be allowed to use a calculator, except ofr one I provide. You will be allowed to use a crib sheet consisting of one side of one 8x11 sheet of paper with whatever you care to put on it, as well as a table of integrals which I will provide.
